About us: The Story behind HearingTech & EarPlugOnline

Back in 2001, Jan van Kooten and Harry van der Bijl, two life long friends both with a passion for workplace safety started a brand new company called HearingTech. They both saw potential in Australia to provide a new way of looking at hearing protection and the benefits of custom made earplugs.

Jan and Harry went about finding the premium manufacturer and quickly identified Elcea in Holland as the highest quality brand of custom made hearing protection in the world.  Subsequently HearingTech became the sole supplier of Elacin branded products in Australia. This relationship continues to this day and grows stronger with each passing year.

In 2003 Jan took over 100% ownership of the company and in 2005 HearingTech set up it’s own manufacturing base in Melbourne and continued growing the Elacin brand throughout Australia. Our local production facility ensures that all Elacin Custom Made earplugs & hearing protectors sold in Australia was also manufactured in Australia .

2011 saw HearingTech move to larger premises so that they could keep up with the production demands, and expectations are that a second and final move to a bigger facility will be required in the middle of 2012

HearingTech have representation Australia wide. In 2008 EarPlugOnline was established to sell Elacin products online.
